We kicked off the new year with Helpful After the Holidays — bringing assistance and awareness to North Texas residents and organizations that still need a helping hand after the holiday season. We hosted a free pop-up hair cutting salon, donated food and supplies to those in need and volunteered at local organizations in Paris, Fort Worth, Dallas and Frisco.

First, we headed to Paris to host a breakfast for the First Responders of Lamar County. We provided a hot breakfast to show them how much we care and appreciate their hard work. One of the first responders was especially grateful for the food we provided, “The donation you guys made for the food was amazing, it made a big difference!”

Continuing into being Helpful After the Holidays, we hosted a free pop-up hair cutting salon to benefit the clients of the Salvation Army in Fort Worth.  We donated gloves, socks and beanies to their clientele and brought a meal to serve everyone who came by to get a free haircut. Many were surprised by our gesture stating, “I always thought this was just an advertising gimmick. Thank y’all for coming out. This means so much to us!” And another shared their appreciation, “It’s these little random acts of help you brought that really add up for my family. Thank you.”

Our post holidays Random Acts of Helpfulness continued with a donation of over $1,000 in food and goods to North Texas Food Bank. We also helped deliver the food to families and kids in need at local schools as a part of their school pantry program.

When Vanessa reached out to us on Facebook to ask if we could deliver cozy blankets and socks to residents at The Tradition-Lovers Lane Dallas senior home, we couldn’t say no. So, we stopped by to surprise the residents with not only brand new blankets and socks to keep them warm, but also brought brand new board games for their common area! We stayed to play some games and talk with the residents who were grateful for new people to talk to. “We rarely get new visitors so it’s nice just to sit and chat with you all!”  To wrap up our Helpful After the Holidays, we volunteered at Becky’s Hope Horse Rescue in Frisco and repainted their barn fences, giving them a fresh new look!

So what’s next? In March, we’ll be helping our four-legged friends find their forever homes at our Helpful Honda Pet Adoption events throughout North Texas. Events will be held with the SPCA of Texas, including donation Match-Days where we’ll match all donation-fees at our participating events with the SPCA of Texas: The Ginger Man Dallas on Saturday March 2nd; the SPCA of Texas’ Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center on March 9th; and the SPCA of Texas’ Russell H. Perry Animal Care Center in McKinney on March 23rd. We’re also hosting Helpful Honda Pet Adoptions at the Denton Animal Shelter on March 2nd, the  Richardson Animal Shelter on March 16th, and the Burleson Animal Shelter on March 23rd; and we’ll be making a helpful supplies donation back to each of these event partners. We’re also giving away complimentary leashes, water bowls, and doggy bags to those who stop by to say hi.  Stop by and help save a life by adopting your new best friend.
